East Stroudsburg, PA Lodge #319 Exalted Ruler's Message Dear Members, Well school is back in session and football season is here. Where did the summer go? Don't forget our Saturday afternoons and evenings of college football. There will be free food after 3:00 pm. Before 3 you can cook your own hamburger for just $1.50. Come out and cheer on your favorite team. In conjunction with this, we are getting together another Barrow of Cheer to chance off to purchase another flat screen TV. We hope to get a 37 inch TV this time so you can see those foofball games even better. So if you have anything to donate, bring it in. We will accept gift cards, gas cards, snacks and anything you think would be desirable to entice people to take a chance. Thanks to Bill Kasperski and his helpers for another successful Golf Tournament. Thanks to Mark Hutson and all of this crew for their hard work for our Charity Home Service Dinner at Camelback. Our Open House on August 14 did result in our getting some new members, so it was a worth while endeavor. Don't forget the A. Mitchell Palmer Dinner on Sept. 23rd honoring Sheriff Todd Martin. Get those acceptances in seating is limited. Men's Dinner Club plans have been finalized. There will be 3 entrees. Steak will be $17.00; beef or fish will be $13.00 If you purchase a book of ticket for all six dinners, there will be $1.00 off each meal. The dinners will be on the fourth Thursday in the months of Sept., Oct., Jan., Feb., March and April. I do hope you will support this endeavor or it will be the last year for Men's Dinner Club. Please don't forget our Yard Sale on Sept 27th. Bring in items to sell and stop and shop. We can raise some much needed money. We will be having our soccer shoot for the local youths on Sept. 20 at J.T. Lambert School. Registration starts at 10:00 a.m. If you know of any youngsters between the ages of 6 through 14, boys and girls, please encourage them to come out. We also can use help setting up the equipment and keeping score. The Grand Lodge has moved the observance of National Patriotism Week from the third week in Feb. to the second week in Sept. to conincide with Sept. 11, Patriots Day. The flag should be flown at half-staff on this day. In observance of this week, we will honor a police officer as Officer of the Year. We will honor him or her with a plaque and dinner for them and their family at the Friday dinner of Sept. 12. So come out and help us honor this special person. Last but certainly not lease, a special thank you to three men, Harold Litts, Erwin Flynn and Richard Epply, who did such a tremendous job on our back entry. They painted and put up paneling and it really looks nice. Thanks Guys. Fraternally yours,
Carol I. Hutson, E.R. |
